16 September - 5 October 2010
This exhibition presents a diverse range of projects by artists on holiday but unable to stop photographing: from Steven Jones documenting his trips in a fun and striking way, to Kate Goodwin collecting and reinterpreting rubbish found on the beach; from Caroline Fraser’s abstract shots of sand and water, to Anita Chandra’s picture-perfect shots that you might not expect a holiday-goer to persevere with obtaining. The exhibition explores the role of the other and observer while abroad, and also the shifts in identity we - perhaps wrongly - assume take place between being at work and away.

Viewfinder curator Kathleen Brey comments: "Busman's Holiday brings together holiday photos by four photographers, allowing an opportunity to look back on cherished memories of adventure. As the summer holiday comes to an end for all of us, let’s reflect before settling in for the coming of Autumn. Busman’s Holiday commences a new chapter for the Viewfinder Gallery at our new venue in Brixton Village after our own summer holiday in a temporary space. I can think of no more appropriate and optimistic exhibition than Busman’s Holiday to launch us forward.”
