    World Photo London, is taking place at Somerset House for the second year running.  

     

    Stretched across an entire month, the programming will include stunning exhibitions, showcasing the best in global contemporary photography; unique workshops for all levels of photographers; special presentations by masters of photography; industry discussions; portfolio reviews; peer critique sessions; professional seminars; networking and collaboration amongst the photo industry.  

     

    There are also general events for anyone who enjoys photography, whether a culture buff or a practicing enthusiast.

    Manchester Open City campaign seeks to inspire many more people to capture the essence of the city through photography. Five renowned Manchester photographers are taking part in an afternoon where up to 100 people will be taken on a free two hour photography tour around the city. Photographers, who include Aidan O’Rourke, Andrew Brooks, Len Grant, Paul Herrmann and Mark Page will each take a group of budding amateur snappers on a themed photography workshop and a selection of the best images will form an exhibition to be held in the Triangle shopping centre in June Those taking part must be over 18 years and bring their own photography equipment. To apply you must send your name, age, email address and a day-time phone number quoting ‘ Cityco Open City’ in the subject header to info@cityco.com by the 14 May. This opportunity is on a first come, first served basis.

    This workshop is for photographers who want to explore using rules and structures to create a project, body of work or series exploring a theme.

     

    Structures can be anything from working within a timescale, to using a (film) format, to concentrating on a particular space or location.  The workshop will also focus on editing and organising a series of photographs.  The event is being held at St James Church, London.
